Romance from the beginning

Josephine Homes was founded in 2002. Rafat and Natalie Shaheen were working at some of Silicon Valley's most innovative companies when they met and fell in love. They share a deep passion for culture, art and style: Natalie has been a published poet since the age of 12, and Rafat is an artist and technologist. During the process of designing their own home, the Shaheens discovered it was impossible to find intricate authentic European style furnishings, frescoes, lightings and home decor in the United States.

Traveling to Italy, the husband and wife team sought out and engaged artists, designed one-of-a-kind elegant pieces, and filled their home with hand-crafted quality Italian furniture and accessories. The project sparked the Shaheens’ interest in preserving the historical techniques of the master artisans, and led to their creation of Josephine Homes.
